Jasmine Dixon, who led Long Beach Poly to three consecutive Division I state championships, has appropriately been named Gatorade Player of the Year for California by Rise Magazine.
A 5-foot-10 guard/forward who committed to Rutgers, Dixon averaged 14.0 points and 10.4 rebounds this season for Jackrabbits (31-2). She also averaged 4.4 steals and 3.2 assists.
The decision was made before the state final, in which Poly defeated Berkeley, 55-31, on Saturday.
Dixon is the only Californian selected to the Women’s Basketball Coaches Association All-America Game, and has also been named to participate in the McDonald’s All-American Game.
