NEW YORK — Sydney Biddle Barrows, the alleged “Mayflower Madam,” pleaded not guilty Friday to running a prostitution ring and demanded the release of records that she said will show that the business was a legitimate escort service.
Barrows, 32, and Lawrin Goulston, 26, both of Manhattan, were arraigned on an indictment charging them with promoting prostitution in the third degree. Goulston also pleaded innocent.
Barrows has been dubbed the Mayflower Madam because her ancestors came to the New World on the Mayflower.
