‘Witch-Burning’ Trial

PIETERSBURG, South Africa — Nineteen men were jailed for three to 10 years Tuesday for burning to death two men they regarded as witches.
The villagers thought the men were responsible for the death of a child struck by lightning and decided to set fire to the victims’ huts.
