A Tustin restaurant manager was shot in the leg as he gave his wallet to a gunman in a ski mask early Monday, police said.
Tustin police said Francisco Javier Ontiveros, 32, was leaving the El Torito Restaurant in the 17400 block of 17th Street at 2:55 a.m. Monday when a man wearing a ski mask accosted him in the parking lot and forced him back inside.
The robber ordered Ontiveros to give him money from the restaurant safe, then to turn over his own wallet. When Ontiveros complied, police said, the robber “shot the manager in the leg for no apparent reason,” then fled with an undisclosed amount of cash.
Ontiveros was in stable condition late Monday at Western Medical Center in Santa Ana, a hospital spokeswoman said.
