Westminster police have arrested an Anaheim man on suspicion of kidnaping, robbery, rape and attempting to kill a Santa Ana woman early Monday.
Police identified the suspect as Enio Ruben Tablas Villeda, 23, who was arrested near his home about eight hours after the alleged attack.
Officers said that Villeda had met the 24-year-old woman Sunday night, and the two had driven around the Anaheim and Westminster areas in Villeda’s car.
When Villeda made advances toward the woman and was refused, he beat her with his fists and later with a hammer, then threatened her with a knife, Officer Larry W. Woessner alleged.
Villeda then raped her and took money from her purse before she escaped and called police, Woessner alleged. She was taken to a hospital and treated and released. Because her attacker had driven her by his home, she was able to lead police to the area, Woessner added.
Villeda was booked into Orange County Jail on $250,000 bail.
