The Reagan Administration’s policy of “constructive engagement” with South Africa’s government has proven itself more destructive than constructive for the black people of South Africa.
The recent killings by the South African government clearly show that there has been no meaningful change in that country. Only the rhetoric has changed, not the actions of the South African government.
At a rcent press conference, President Reagan defended the violent reaction of the South African government. By defending the indefensible, the President has once again shown his insensitivity to the immoral policy of apartheid.
