ROME — Police reported that gangsters killed six people in two separated shotgun murders just hours apart in Sicily.
In the first incident, Placido Fiorello, 57, his teen-age son Antonio and nephew Angelo Grassia, both 15, were shot to death last week as they drove in a car near Paterno, on the east coast.
Police said they were latest victims of a continuing underworld feud between extortionists and kidnapers.
Police later reported another triple murder near Agrigento on the southern coast. Police said three men with suspected Mafia connections were shot and killed in a farmer’s home in Palma Di Montechiaro. The victims were identified as Giovanni Lumia, 44, Salvatore Lupo, 52, and his brother Francesco, 45.
