Soviet Union Visit by Reagan’s Son Called ‘Strictly Tourism’

MOSCOW — Ronald Prescott Reagan, the President’s younger son, is in the Soviet Union on what was described by U.S. Embassy officials today as a private visit.

An embassy source, who spoke on the condition he not be identified, said the 27-year-old free-lance journalist and his wife arrived with another couple on Sunday and will be in the Soviet Union for a week.

The two couples are staying at Spaso House, the official residence of U.S. Ambassador Arthur Hartman.

“They are pretty much on their own,” said the embassy source. “His (Ron Reagan’s) friend speaks pretty good Russian. They are pretty much doing their own thing, and the visit is strictly tourism.”
