Work Started on Water Plant

Construction has begun on $7 million in improvements to the water treatment plant at Sweetwater Reservoir in Chula Vista.
C. E. Wylie Construction Co. is completing the work, which will include new chemical feed systems, expansion of the operations building and addition of flash mixing and sedimentation basins. “A major objective . . . is to create a more effective system to remove the taste and odors that are often associated with aquatic plant growth in surface water reservoirs,” E. E. Wylie, president of the construction firm, said.
