Ceradyne Inc., an Irvine-based manufacturer of high-performance ceramic products for the defense and electronics industry, said Monday that it posted net income of $334,000 for the third quarter, up 34% from $249,000 during the same period last year. At the same time, revenues jumped 50% to $4.8 million from $3.2 million a year earlier.
The company attributed the gains to operating improvements at its Costa Mesa hot-pressing facility and to increased shipments of ceramic materials used in its products.
For the nine months, however, net income dropped 32%, to $567,000 compared to $840,000. Sales for the same period rose 23%, to $11.7 million from $9.5 million.
