A San Diego man was killed early Monday morning in Chula Vista after the car he was driving was struck by another car being chased by a Chula Vista police vehicle, a police spokeswoman said. Michael Eugene Hildebrand, 28, was killed about 1:45 a.m. Monday when his car was struck by a vehicle driven by Lawrence James Williams, 33, also of San Diego, the spokeswoman said.
Williams was reportedly driving erratically when a Chula Vista police car signaled him to pull over, the spokeswoman said, adding that Williams’ car then ran a red light at Broadway and L Street, colliding with the car driven by Hildebrand.
Williams was arrested at the scene and later charged with vehicular manslaughter, the spokeswoman said.
