NASHVILLE, Tenn. — No. 2 ranked Jerome Coffee will fight Jeff Fenech, International Boxing Federation bantamweight champion, for the title in Sydney, Australia, on Dec. 2.
Coffee, of Nashville, is 26-0 with 17 KOs while Fenech is 10-0 with seven knockouts.
Coffee drew the bid for the IBF title after No. 1-ranked Gaby Canizales chose to fight for the World Boxing Assn. bantamweight title against champion Richie Sandoval.
Stan Allen, Coffee’s manager, said his fighter would go to Sydney for the bout because of financial opportunities in Australia.
Fenech won the title in April, upsetting Satoshi Shingaki of Japan with an eighth-round knockout.
