Local News in Brief : Races to Mark Opening of Paramount Trail

The National Park Service and Las Virgenes Track Club are co-sponsoring five-kilometer races April 6, to celebrate the opening of a cross-country trail at Paramount Ranch in the Santa Monica Mountains National Recreation Area.
Runners will cover flat and hilly stretches winding through natural landscape and the old Western town at the federal agency’s Paramount Ranch property in Agoura.
Registration will begin at 7:30 a.m. The women’s race will start at 8:30 a.m. and the men’s race at 9:15 a.m.
Paramount Ranch can be reached by taking the Kanan Road exit south from the Ventura Freeway three-quarters of a mile to Cornell Road, then turning onto Cornell for 2 1/2 miles.
