The Irvine Co.’s 1,740-acre Tustin Ranch development on Tustin’s rural east side, considerably altered after months of conferences with city planners, was approved by the City Council.
Under those plans, 7,950 housing units, plus commercial development, a professional-level golf course and seven parks, will be built on the land, with construction beginning as early as spring, 1987.
When populated, Tustin Ranch will double the city’s current 41,000 population, planners said.
