Success at the box-office doesn’t always translate into Academy recognition, as the nominations for the 1985 awards indicate. Here are the year’s top five money makers, their 1985 rental earnings and Oscar nominations:
1--”Back to the Future,” $94 million, four nominations: best screenplay, song, sound, sound-effects editing.
2--”Rambo: First Blood, Part II,” $80 million, one nomination: sound-effects editing.
3--”Rocky IV,” $65 million, no nominations.
4--”Cocoon,” $40 million, two nominations: supporting actor, visual effects.
5--”Goonies,” $30 million, no nominations.
