Yet another political group has been formed to campaign against California Chief Justice Rose Elizabeth Bird--this one to feature notable Republicans in waves of television advertisements. The group, calling itself Californians for Justice in the Courts, began airing its first commercials. The political consulting firm of Russo, Watts and Rollins is behind the new effort, and its first commercial features the company’s client in the Republican U.S. Senate primary, Los Angeles County Supervisor Mike Antonovich. The 30-second ads are being aired principally in the San Joaquin Valley. A source close to the new anti-Bird committee said its financial backing comes from agricultural and business interests.
