Paris, which played host to the 1924 Olympic Games, officially entered the bidding to host the 1992 Summer Games.

Also in the competition are Barcelona, Spain; Amsterdam, The Netherlands; Birminghan, England; Sofia, Bulgaria, and Brisbane, Australia. The International Olympic Committee is to award both the summer and winter Olympics for 1992 on Oct. 17.
