Northwestern football Coach Dennis Green resigned to accept a job as receivers’ coach for the San Francisco 49ers, where he worked briefly before joining the Wildcats.
Green, 37, had a 10-45 overall record and 7-37 Big Ten record since taking over the job in 1980, and never had a winning record.
