San Diego State announced it has suspended track and field competition pending completion of a university investigation into alleged anabolic steroid use by some members of the men’s and women’s teams.
In addition, Athletic Director Fred Miller announced all track team members wishing to compete after the school’s investigation is completed must submit to drug tests, which will include testing for use of strength-enhancing steroids.
Miller said the investigation will begin Wednesday.
Allegations of steroid use surfaced last week when Aztec weight man Scott Hoth, who Miller had ordered to take a steroid test, said assistant track coach Kent Pagel used steroids.
