Bird on Voters and the Court

When reading or hearing comments in defense of Rose Bird in her bid for reconfirmation to the Supreme Court, I keep hearing things like, “leave politics to the politicians and leave the judiciary free and independent.”
Wasn’t Gov. Jerry Brown a politician?
Are we so naive that we don’t know why Rose Bird was appointed to the court in the first place?
As long as I can remember, the politicians are the ones who put the justices in office, and they always pick those who they hope will do their bidding.
Let’s all wake up--we all vote for those we think will do me the most good.
