Alpha Industries Inc., Woburn, Mass., said George S. Kariotis resigned as chief executive to campaign as Republican candidate for governor of Massachusetts. Kariotis will continue as chairman. Martin J. Reid, president and chief operating officer, was named acting chief executive.
