Upsets Give Top 10 a New Look

SAN DIEGO — Upsets by Mount Miguel, Escondido and Christian caused some changes in The Times’ high school football poll.
No. 7 Mount Miguel got its sixth straight victory, defeating former No. 8 Helix, 14-0. Escondido beat No. 3 Oceanside, 29-28, knocking the Pirates to No. 8. Christian’s victory over No. 7 Hoover knocked the Cardinals out of the top 10.
San Dieguito moved to No. 4 after beating Mount Carmel. San Dieguito plays No. 1-ranked Vista this week for the Palomar League championship. Mira Mesa, which has seven straight victories to clinch the City Eastern League title, is fifth.
