CHICAGO — A United Airlines jetliner carrying 94 people returned safely to O’Hare International Airport shortly after takeoff this morning after a sea gull was sucked into one of its engines, an airline spokesman said.
No one was injured on the Boeing 737, which was bound for New Orleans, said United spokesman Joe Hopkins. Just as the flight took off, the bird entered the jet’s engine, causing “tremendous vibration,” Hopkins said. The plane returned to the airport on one engine.
