A Holiday Standout

Thanks for including the Arboretum’s Queen Anne Cottage open house in “10 Unusual Holiday Celebrations” (Dec. 11). The details Marilyn Oliver included in her story aroused such interest among Times readers that this open house was one of the most successful ever.
But even more interesting than the number of visitors were the areas they represented. Sandy Snider, who coordinated the event, trained her docents to ask visitors for their home towns. A large percentage drove over from the San Fernando Valley, an area only 30 minutes away from the Arboretum by freeway but usually underrepresented among our visitors.
