In Vietnam’s first recognition of the film “Platoon,” Radio Hanoi Wednesday said, “The film depicts U.S. soldiers’ crimes during the Vietnam War. It also reflects the ideological struggle between the good and evil of the American GI who was still conscientious and humane.” Most Vietnamese have no access to Vietnam War movies, but government employees in Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City, formerly Saigon, review videotapes of such films.
