Unraveling of Iran-Contra-White House Tangle

If Harry Truman is remembered for “The Buck Stops Here,” surely Ronald Reagan will be remembered for “The Con Starts Here.”
In fact, why not call the current goings-on in Washington the “Roncon” scandal? Isn’t that what it’s all about? It is not really about Iran, the contras, Poindexter, Casey or North, it’s how long it will take Reagan to back away far enough from the situation so that when the ax does fall, he will be wielding it.
He’s been doing that ever since his days in California, so why should this time be any different? We haven’t even finished Act I in this melodrama and I’ll bet he’s already written his third act thank-you speech for the much-applauded ending he fully expects. Unfortunately, it most likely will happen just that way.
