USAir and PSA moved up their merger deadline.

USAir Group and PS Group agreed to complete USAir’s $400-million acquisition of San Diego-based Pacific Southwest Airlines by April 30. The two airline holding companies moved up the deadline from Sept. 30 because earlier this month federal regulators approved the acquisition on an expedited basis. The only remaining obstacle is USAir’s demand that PSA negotiate labor contract modifications from the Teamsters Union that represents 3,000 PSA employees. The contracts give Teamsters-represented employees and the Teamsters Union special rights if PSA is acquired by another airline.
