Edison’s Carpenter Throws Perfect Game

Terry Carpenter of Edison High School pitched a perfect game Tuesday as the Chargers defeated defending Southern Section 4-A softball champion St. Joseph, 2-0, in the first game of a doubleheader at St. Joseph.
Carpenter (7-1), a junior, retired all 21 batters in the seven-inning game, striking out nine. It was her first perfect game. She has 103 strikeouts in 56 innings this season.
St. Joseph won the second game, 8-1. Edison is 8-2.
