USIU’s Esquivel Pitches Perfect Game

SAN DIEGO — Terry Esquivel pitched a perfect game Tuesday to lead United States International University to a 1-0 exhibition victory over Eurami H.C.A.W., a club team from the Netherlands, in the second game of a softball doubleheader.
The Gulls scored the only run of the game in the fifth inning. Carla Shaw singled to open the inning, moved to second on a fielder’s choice and scored on a single to right by Marina Gault.
Becky Wolf was 2 for 3 with two RBIs to lead USIU to a 4-0 victory in the first game. Karen Winkler went the distance, allowing 3 hits and striking out 5.
