San Diego High School Baseball : Grossmont Rallies to Beat Monte Vista

SAN DIEGO — Grossmont High School scored nine runs in the bottom of the sixth inning Tuesday for a 10-8 victory over Monte Vista.
Grossmont (1-0) had six hits and Monte Vista committed three errors in the inning. Six of the runs were unearned. Mike Rendina went 3 for 4 to lead Grossmont. Scott Paul had a two-run homer for Monte Vista (0-1, 3-4), which led by 7-0 and 8-1.
In other Grossmont League games:
El Capitan 8, El Cajon 4--Matt Smith hit a two-run homer in the fifth and Rich Gonsales had a solo home run in the first to lead El Capitan (1-0, 5-2). The Vaqueros scored six runs in the first three innings. Larry Brown went 2 for 3 with an RBI to lead El Cajon Valley (0-1, 3-3).
Santana 13, Mount Miguel 4--Mount Miguel led, 4-1, after the first inning, but defending San Diego Section 3-A champion Santana rallied at Mount Miguel. Billy Reed went 3 for 5 with three RBIs to lead Santana (1-0). The Sultans’ Mark Sherman pitched a complete game. Joe Castillo paced Mount Miguel (0-1, 5-2) with a three-run homer.

METRO CONFERENCE
Bonita Vista 8, Mar Vista 5--David Jocis went 3 for 3 with 3 RBIs and Randy Abshier was 2 for 4 with an RBI to lead Bonita Vista (1-0, 2-6).
NONLEAGUE
Orange Glen 6, San Pasqual 5--Pitcher Dave Miller got the victory for Orange Glen (3-3) at home. Miller pitched the first six innings as Orange Glen took a 6-1 lead. When San Pasqual rallied, he came back with one out in the seventh. Miller finished with 11 strikeouts.
