Donald Lennox, who guided ailing International Harvester through a massive corporate metamorphosis into Navistar International Inc., resigned as chairman and CEO of the Chicago-based firm at its annual meeting Wednesday.
Lennox recalled the years of trying to regain fiscal health as “dreary,” saying “we had to make tough decisions on who to fire next and which plant to close.
“It was a time when making financial forecasts constantly found us in ‘deep yogurt,’ ” he said.
Lennox will become chairman of privately held Schlegel Corp. in Rochester, N.Y.
