Navy center David Robinson was named United Press International’s player of the year in college basketball.
Robinson, 7-1, averaged 28.2 points, 11.8 rebounds and a nation’s best 4.5 blocked shots in leading Navy to a 26-6 record, a third consecutive Colonial Athletic Assn. title and an NCAA tournament bid.
