Community College Roundup : Saddleback Rallies for Win in Softball

Debbie Hartwig singled in a run in the seventh inning to break a 2-2 tie and give Saddleback a 3-2 victory over Cypress Wednesday in an Orange Empire Conference softball game at Cypress.
Dina Graham and Toni Cukrov singled to start the inning and moved up on a sacrifice. Kelli Thomas then bunted and Cypress pitcher Noel Parker threw Graham out at the plate.
Lori Methot bunted and Parker threw the ball away at first for a three-base error, allowing two runs to score. Methot then scored on Hartwig’s single.
Patty Taylor (15-1) relieved in the sixth and got the victory for Saddleback (7-2, 21-3).
Rancho Santiago 3, Orange Coast 0--Dawn Robertson (4-2) pitched a two-hitter and had nine strikeouts to lead the Dons (8-1, 14-6) at Orange Coast.
Rancho Santiago scored three runs in the seventh on a fielder’s choice by Christi Kalehuawehe and a two-run double by Sandy Martinez.
In the South Coast Conference:
Golden West 2, Mt. San Antonio 0--Kathy Fogg (9-3) gave up three hits and pitched her fifth shutout of the season for the Rustlers (3-2, 16-9).
Fullerton 3, Pasadena City 0--Annette Gonzales pitched a two-hitter as the Hornets (2-2, 14-7) won at Pasadena.
In South Coast Conference volleyball:
Golden West 3, Long Beach City 1--Tim Johnson had 27 kills, Darren Utterback had 14 and Eddie Rapp had 77 assists as the Rustlers (6-3) won, 11-15, 15-12, 18-16, 15-12, at home.
Orange Coast 3, Mt. San Antonio 0--The Pirates (9-0) remained undefeated with a 15-6, 15-7, 15-7 victory at Walnut.
