A majority of Americans would like to see the federal government provide a fixed amount of money to finance congressional campaigns, which last year spent in excess of $400 million, and prohibit contributions from other sources, according to the latest Gallup Poll. The poll shows 50% in favor of this plan while 42% are opposed and 8% undecided.
