Shamu, arguably the world’s most famous killer whale, is about to become an even bigger star. Watson General Pictures is seeking $5 million to finance its planned animated feature film about Shamu, a co-production with Lions Den Studio Ltd., an animation studio. Al Lowenheim of Lions Den said Monday that the script for the film could be summarized as “Bambi in the water, with a science-fiction twist.” The biggest hurdle: finding a buyer of distribution rights to help meet the estimated $6 million production cost.
