The article (April 17), “FCC OKs $1.50 Hike in Phone Access Charge,” makes me so happy--my $42 per year will reduce my (last year’s) $6.39 long-distance bill by 15% to $5.43! What a savings!
I would get rid of my phone but I must be contacted by other people.
If the phone company can (or will soon) restrict 976 numbers they should be able to restrict long-distance calls. I could put my $42 per year to better use than feeding the phone company’s pockets.
