The Philippine military warned kidnapers that they have 24 hours to release two Swiss Red Cross workers and four Filipino nurses seized while distributing relief goods in the southern Philippines. If the six are not freed, the army said, it will launch a rescue operation in Lanao del Sur province in the southern island of Mindanao. An army commander in the area said the kidnapers are believed to be members of a maverick Muslim rebel group.
