Oldest U.S. War Veteran Dies in Illinois at 107

MARION, Ill. — The nation’s oldest war veteran, who helped occupy Cuba after the Spanish-American War in 1898, is dead at the age of 107.
Jasper Garrison of Christopher, Ill., died Thursday night in the Veterans Administration Medical Center at Marion, spokeswoman Frances Gilliam said.
