A 35-year-old farm worker has been sentenced to life in prison without possibility of parole for murdering a 4-year-old girl and stuffing her body in a refrigerator. Manuel Gonzales Gomez was sentenced by Commissioner H. Ronald Hauptman in the 1983 slaying of Johanna Navarez, whose body was found in the refrigerator of a Westlake apartment. Gomez was convicted of first-degree murder and molestation charges by a Los Angeles Superior Court jury after a recent five-week trial.
