MUSIC SERIES TO PRESENT 9 CONCERTS

The 13th annual Seal Beach Chamber Music Festival will feature a series of nine evening concerts on successive Wednesdays, beginning June 24, at the Church of Religious Science in Seal Beach.
The free concerts will begin at 8 p.m. at the church, 500 Marina Drive.
Programs for the nine concerts are as follows:
--June 24: Monarch String Quartet: Samuel Barber’s Quartet, Op. 11; Haydn’s Quartet in G, Op. 77, No. 1, and Mendelssohn’s Canzonetta.
--July 1: Festival Players: Beethoven’s Septet in E-flat for Winds and Strings, Op. 20; Spohr’s Nonet in F, Op. 31.
--July 8: Haydn Orchestra: Bach’s Violin Concerto No. 2 in E, with soloist Lawrence Sonderling; Debussy’s “Danses sacree et profane,” for Harp and Orchestra, with harpist Lou Anne Neill.
--July 15: La Stravaganza: program of Baroque music performed on original or replicas of period instruments.
--July 22: Ysaye String Quartet: works by Schubert, Boccherini and Carl Nielsen.
--July 29: California String Trio: works by Haydn, Beethoven and Jean Francaix.
--Aug. 5: Ysaye String Quartet: Mozart’s Viola Quintet; Dvorak’s Quartet in E-flat, Op. 51, and Schubert’s “Quartettsatz” in C.
--Aug. 12: Pianist Albert Dominquez: Beethoven’s Sonata No. 14 in C-sharp minor, Op. 27, No. 2, “Moonlight”; Scriabin’s Sonata No. 5 in F-sharp; works by Chopin.
--Aug. 19: Young Artists’ Guild: Program and artists to be announced at a later date.
