A man riding a motorcycle on the Santa Ana Freeway in Santa Ana was fatally injured when his cycle snagged the front bumper of a tractor-trailer and then was run over, the California Highway Patrol reported. The identity of the man was not released pending notification of relatives. CHP officers said the motorcyclist and the tractor-trailer were both northbound north of 4th Street. The CHP said the tractor-trailer was going about 20 m.p.h. in the slow-moving traffic, and the motorcycle about 40 m.p.h. The cyclist was driving between traffic lanes when he struck the tractor-trailer, the CHP said. He was airlifted to Western Medical Center in Santa Ana, where he was pronounced dead.
