Glasnost --the Soviet operative word for the recent trend toward governmental openness--is advancing into Soviet culture as well, according to American artist Jamie Wyeth after completing his first visit to Moscow in a decade. But Wyeth, in the Soviet Union to accompany a major exhibition of pictures by three generations of the Wyeth family, said that he fears that Mikhail Gorbachev, the Soviet leader, might be pushing social reforms too rapidly. “People in the Soviet Union think Gorbachev’s reforms will eventually be clamped down and restrictions will be tighter than ever,” Wyeth said.
