Arkansas Gov. Bill Clinton is expected to announce during a news conference next Wednesday whether he intends to join the crowded field seeking the 1988 Democratic presidential nomination, his press secretary, Mike Gauldin, said. Clinton, 40, who is in his fourth term as governor, has been deliberating for weeks about whether to join the race. Sources in Washington last week, speaking only on condition they not be identified, said that Clinton would seek the nomination.
