Norwalk : Electronics Firm Bombed

Sheriff’s deputies are investigating a pipe bomb explosion that tore a hole in the roof of a small Norwalk electronics firm over the long holiday weekend. Nobody was hurt in the Saturday blast, which was not discovered until Monday when workers returned to the offices of Song Lin International Corp., 11849 E. Firestone Blvd.

As deputies from the sheriff’s arson and explosives detail inspected the damage, an unexploded pipe bomb was found and disarmed. No motive has been established and no suspects have been indentified, sheriff’s spokesman Bob Nimtz said.

Vera Yeh, owner of Song Lin, an import-export business which specializes in computer components, said her company was nearly destroyed a month ago by fire. Officials said the probable cause was a leaky gas line, but in light of last Saturday’s bombing Yeh said the fire may have been set. “We have no idea who is doing this to us,” she said. “I just wish they would stop.”

Yeh said she has nine employees. She does not believe the attack on her business is the work of a disgruntled or former employee. “I’ve only fired two or three people in the last five years,” Yeh said.
