A 24-year-old Canoga Park man was found dead Wednesday morning in a park less than 10 blocks from his home, Los Angeles Police detectives said.
A gardener at Lanark Park at Lanark Street and Topanga Canyon Boulevard called police about 7:15 a.m. to report a body propped against a tree in a grassy area of the park, said Detective Bob Hart.
Police detectives have identified the man as Javier Contreras, but said they have not determined the cause of death. There was no indication of foul play or signs of a struggle, Hart said.
Contreras’ body, clothed in white pants, blue shirt and one tennis shoe, was found in the northeastern part of the park about 30 feet from the street, Hart said. The county coroner’s office is conducting an autopsy.
