Badham said the block grant, authorized under Title 1 of the Housing and Community Development Act of 1974, will be used for public works, economic development and historical preservation of homes and buildings in the city.
Badham said that HUD had also awarded the Housing Authority of Orange County a $783,000 grant for a housing voucher program.
The program is designed to assist low-income families in obtaining safe and sanitary housing at affordable rental rates, he said.
