Westwood : Petitions Assail Caltrans Plan
- Share via
The Friends of Westwood Advisory Committee is circulating petitions against a Caltrans street-widening project on Santa Monica Boulevard at Westwood and Beverly Glen boulevards, according to spokesman Jules Lesner.
Residents are upset that the widening of the street will eliminate five to seven feet of existing sidewalk and increase safety hazards for pedestrians, according to Lesner.
The petition asks Los Angeles Councilman Zev Yaroslavsky, county Supervisor Ed Edelman and Donald L. Watson, a district director of the state Department of Transportation, to hold a community meeting to discuss the issue, Lesner said.
