Phil Mickelson Leads Junior Golf Tournament

ROSWELL, Ga. — Phil Mickelson of San Diego shot a 69 Wednesday to maintain his lead after the second round of the American Junior Golf Assn. Tournament of Champions.
In the boys’ ages 15-18 division, Mickelson led with a two-round total of 135, after a first-round 66, over the par-71, 6,601-yard course at the Horseshoe Bend Country Club. The 72-hole event is the 12th of a 20-tournament schedule for junior golfers.
Three strokes back is Rob McKelvey of Lawrenceville, Ga., who shot rounds of 71 and 68. Third is Scott DeSerrano from Farmers Branch, Tex., who shot 72-68 for 140.
In the girls’ 11-18 division, Christy Erb, of Bonita, Calif., shot rounds of 69 and 73 for a score of 142. In second place is Terri Thompson of Savannah, Ga., who shot 72-75 for 147. Tied for third at 149 are Vicki Goetz of Hull, Ga., who shot 76 and 73, and Adelle Moore of Dallas, Tex., who shot 72-77.
