Westwood : UCLA Librarian Honored

The UCLA Biomedical Library has been named in honor of Louise M. Darling, its founder and head librarian for 31 years.
Darling, a West Los Angeles resident, came to UCLA in 1947 to establish the library and supervised its development until her retirement in 1978.
UCLA Chancellor Charles E. Young said in honoring Darling that the university’s biomedical library “has been a critical factor in the pre-eminence of the professional schools and research units that comprise the UCLA Center for Health Sciences.”
The library houses more than 425,000 volumes used by the faculty, staff and students of the schools of medicine, public health, nursing and dentistry as well as the biology and microbiology departments and the medical center.
