Vince Dooley, football coach and athletic director at the University of Georgia, was admitted to Emory University hospital and will undergo surgery to clear a blocked artery, university officials said.
The procedure, known as a coronary angioplasty, is scheduled for this morning. A single artery feeding the heart muscle was found to be partially blocked during an examination at Athens Regional Hospital early Monday evening.
The procedure is fairly routine and Dooley could return to work as early as Thursday, Athens cardiologist Dr. Ham Magill said.
